Italian national coordination
of Down syndrome associations
Active since 1987, it was formally established in 2003 and aims to: activate social communication actions to raise awareness of the potential of people with Down syndrome; promote their inclusion in school, in the workplace, and sport; share experiences among individual associations; identify and implement common strategies on shared policy issues.
Every year CoorDown promotes two key awareness and fund-raising events: the National Down Syndrome Day (every second Sunday in October) and the World Down Syndrome Day (March 21). At present CoorDown is the official agency in charge of discussing issues and rights of people with Down syndrome with all Institutions.
